New Jersey Transit is experiencing significant disruptions due to heat-related rail equipment issues. The extreme temperatures have affected air-conditioning units and other electronic components on the trains, leading to delays and potential cancellations over the next few days.

NJ Transit announced that customers may experience these disruptions for the next 48-72 hours. Rail maintenance crews are working around the clock to repair and restore the affected equipment as quickly as possible.

These issues come after a series of problems and delays that NJ Transit has faced in recent weeks. The current heatwave has exacerbated these issues, causing further inconvenience for commuters.

In response to the disruptions, NJ Transit is advising customers to consider cancelling or combining select trips for the next few days. Tickets are being cross-honored by NJ Transit buses, private carriers, and PATH at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken Terminal, and 33rd Street.

Customers are advised to visit the NJ Transit website for alternate service information and updates on the situation.
