Lauryn Hill is set to honor the late D’Angelo and Roberta Flack at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The Recording Academy announced its plans to recognize the artists we lost this year on Wednesday, January 28. Hill, who worked with D’Angelo and covered Flack’s hit “Killing Me Softly With His Song” for the Fugees' debut album, will lead the award show’s “In Memorium” segment. Following the announcement, the Recording Academy confirmed to The Breakfast Club’s Loren LoRosa that D’Angelo’s daughter Imani and his brother, Luther, will be in attendance. However, the singer’s son, Michael Archer, Jr, a.k.a. Swayvo Twain, claimed he had not been invited.

“I want to start by expressing my gratitude to the Recording Academy for honoring my father’s legacy on one of the biggest nights in music,” Archer said in a statement. “Any recognition of his impact and contributions to the culture truly means a lot to my family and me. It would’ve been a pleasure to attend but unfortunately my siblings and I haven’t received an invitation to be part of this moment celebrating our parents’ lives and work. We remain thankful for the acknowledgement of my father and for the love people continue to show his music and legacy. Our respect for what Pops built will always come first.”

D’Angelo, born Michael Archer, passed away last year following his private battle with cancer. He was only 51. His former girlfriend and the mother of Swayvo, Angie Stone, died in a car accident just several months before his death.

Lauryn Hill will also be joined by Post Malone, Slash, Duff McKagan, Chad Smith and Andrew Watt, who will pay tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne. Reba McIntire, Brandy Clark and Lukas Nelson will also perform to honor the other artists we lost in 2025.

The 2026 Grammy Awards will broadcast live this Sunday, February 1, from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Other confirmed performers include Clipse, Pharrell Williams, Justin Bieber, Leon Thomas and more. The show will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
