Ray J is working with his doctors to ensure that he lives well beyond 2027.
The R&B singer spoke with TMZ on Wednesday, January 28, and provided another update on his well-being after he announced that his doctors gave him a few months to live. Ray J is currently taking eight different medications, some of which are prescribed to people who are at high risk of heart failure. Doctors gave him Jardiance, Entresto, and the cholesterol medication Lipitor. Ray J’s medical team wants him to quit drinking and smoking. They’ve also warned him that he may need a pacemaker.
"If I come out of this, I'll be stronger and a better person,” Ray J said.
Ray J has been experiencing heart issues for the past few weeks. At the beginning of January, he was admitted to a medical center in Las Vegas over a severe case of pneumonia. He had several tests done, including X-rays and an echocardiogram. At one point during his livestream, Ray J said the right side of his heart was black. He also reflected on all the drugs and alcohol he consumed, which he believes made his medical issues worse. He also told the outlet that being away from his kids "took me down" and "made me realize I need to change my ways of living."
“I shouldn’t have went this hard, bro,” he said in a video he posted earlier this week. “I shouldn’t have went that hard. And then, when it’s all done, burn me. Don’t bury me... I f**ked up. I think I thought I was a bigger n***a, like, I had more weight. I thought I was a big n***a. So I’m like, I can handle all the alcohol. I can handle all the Adderall. I can handle all the drugs. I can handle everything. But I couldn’t. My s**t f**ked up."
Ray J is scheduled for a follow-up appointment in two weeks. The singer is also considering a visit to Haiti to explore the potential cures for heart disease. He knows the island nation is currently in turmoil, but he's willing to do whatever it takes to make a full recovery.
