2 Chainz is convinced ghosts are real because he saw one with his own eyes, and he believes it was his late father.
The multifaceted artist revealed the story about his paranormal experience during his chat with The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, March 3. While promoting his new book, “The Voice In My Head Is God," 2 Chainz recalled a chapter in which he describes the moment when he saw the spirit of his dad, who passed away in 2012. He explained that he and his wife, Kesha, were at the hospital when they got a notification from their home's alarm system.
“We have Halo, we come home, and then Kesha looks at her email, and when you have motion, [the camera] takes pictures,” he continued. “When we looked at the motion, you could see somebody, and it was my father. My father left in 2012. This is 2015."
2 Chainz had the photo in question on his phone and showed it to Charlamagne Tha God and Loren LoRosa, who both said they clearly saw the rapper's father. He said he tried to show the same image to Ye during a visit several years ago. When he attempted to show the photo, 2 Chainz said he accidentally knocked over a jug of lemonade on the table, something he claims he would never do. He believes it was his dad playing a trick on him.
The seasoned rapper, born Tauheed Epps, first announced his first memoir last September. At the time, he explained that he planned to detail the "spiritual journey behind his success, offering a raw, reflective, and deeply motivational meditation on the inner voice that’s guided him his whole life: God."
"I feel this is my best close and most personal work,” 2 Chainz said in a statement. “I want to share the spiritual journey behind my success in a raw, uncut, and motivational way.”
“The Voice In My Head Is God" is available everywhere via Black Privilege Publishing, which is an imprint of Atria Books founded by The Breakfast Club's own Charlamagne Tha God. The two joined forces to host a book signing in New York City after their interview aired. You can watch the entire conversation on Netflix now. Watch 2 Chainz explain the title of the book below.
